GROUP PROCESS SKILLS
FOR WORK TEAMSŪ

TrainingWorks

Three Group Process Skills
Team members learn three basic skills in group process:

"Personal skills developed"

  1. Skill in Balancing Needs in a team: The ability to keep three sets of needs balanced by satisfying the personal needs of members, the requirements of mission, and its needs as a team unit.
  2. Skill in Analyzing Group Problems: To be able to identify team problems at three levels-structure, process and content-in order to select the best focus for making changes and interventions.
  3. Skill in Making Process and Structure Interventions: To be able to move a stalled group forward by making its members aware of any hidden factors which may be blocking its progress.
The Problem

"It’s not easy to work
in teams"

Successful work teams do not happen by chance! They will not be effective  unless the members are comfortable in handling such emotional issues as  competition, cynicism, hostility, power plays, selfishness, resentment, and boredom. Teams must learn to pay attention to the interpersonal dynamics beneath the surface of the group’s discussion. Leaders must be able to recognize the symptoms of a time wasting, non-productive group and have the skill to confront the dynamics blocking success.
